UEFA conference League
Google it. I had to.

In all likelihood 7th place won't get a Europa League place, but that team will be entered into a new competition: the UEFA conference League.

It's European football, but not as we know it!

It's not... first of all there's a long drawn out qualifying stage

Then it's a group stage (eight groups with four teams).

Then the eight teams that finished second in the groups play off against the teams that finished third to qualify for the knock out stage along with the eight group winners.

Then it's last sixteen which goes by a standard knock out (which I presume is two legs until the final).

Got to say, the play off matches between the clubs that finished second and third in the group stages sounds completely unnecessary.

Re: UEFA conference League
Why so negative? Who can't forget the great Intertoto? Our last European Cup glory.

Metz away was a great memory.

Re: UEFA conference League
BT Sport wil televise champs league, europa league and the conference league next season.

Conference league will be same format as the other european comps.

Yes please if it’s a knock out tournament from the beginning.

Re: UEFA conference League
I am with Rossal on this, desperate to see us in Europe and I don't care who we play.

I was too young to go to Palermo away but remember the home game fondly (even though Tevez missed a sitter from 5 yards out).

Re: UEFA conference League
Could a third European trophy not have been in the form of a cup competition, like in the days of the Cup Winners Cup? That would have been much better.

Must everything now be in the format of a dogshit league with a load of games that are mostly meaningless in the early stages.

Not for me this, don't fancy it at all. Not in the 'it's better than nothing' camp. Hoping we win our final five and get Champions League, but not going to happen.

Re: UEFA conference League
It looks shit and probably will be shite but id rather that than nothing. I've never been able to experience Europe and with the dildos in charge wouldnt bet against this being my best chance in years to do so

So get me to a shitole in eastern europe watching our reserves next season as it could easily be Cheltenham away in 3 years

Re: UEFA conference League
The winner will get automatic entry to the following seasons Europa league, whoop di fucking do....

Not sure this will be watched or talked about much, unless West Ham is in it of course!

Seems like a Cup to be won by teams who don’t usually win cups, so that’s us!!! And Spurs...LOL

A lot of teams especially the bigger clubs I suspect won’t take it too seriously; it will be almost embarrassing for them to be in it. And then let’s face it, the champion’s league isn’t of much interest until the knockout stages, the Europa League until the final so fuck knows when this comp will be in the spotlight?

So based on that we’ll finish 8th, the West Ham way

Westside is correct ,the Premiership gets 7 places in Europe next season,4 CL,2 europa,1 in conference

Re: UEFA conference League
The BBC article is incorrect.

We only get 7 European places maximum, regardless of who wins Europa or Champions Leagues.

Re: UEFA conference League
Only way 7th won't get europa is if arsenal win it this yr

Or if Chelsea win the champions league and finish outside the top 4.

Or Leicester win the FA cup and finish outside the top 4.

Or if Chelsea win the FA cup and finish outside the top 4.

Re: UEFA conference League
BBC done article on it yesterday.

Apparently up to 8/9 teams could qualify for a European spot depending on who wins what competition.

Bloody confusing.

X Leagues more games and more money than cups. I would like to see us playing in Europe again.

Re: UEFA conference League
It would be disappointing this year after what the team have done to finish outside a European place.

If we can’t get champions league then I think conference league would be better than the europa.

More winnable plus we can play fringe players. Youngsters that don’t usually get a chance etc. Should not disrupt our premier league campaign too much.

Steady 3:09 Tue Apr 27
Re: UEFA conference League
They just shouldn’t have called it conference, makes it sound so shitty. Statto fact, if we qualify for Europe it will be the 7th decade in a row we’ve competed in Europe at least once, bet only a few others can say the same

Re: UEFA conference League
Anything in Europe should be a bonus, Palermo away was immense.

I do however think that anyone who voted for Brexit shouldn't be allowed to go if we qualify.
Out means out apparently!

Re: UEFA conference League
I'm not sure if I like the idea of us being in the 'Conference League'. It makes us sound like we're the European equivalent
of Boreham Wood.

Re: UEFA conference League
All for this, as a previous poster said its one we should actually be challenging for!

Also hopefully it would not affect our league performance too much as easier opponents.
